chrome://settings/help — running version 89 or later
- chrome://settings/content/usbDevices — "Sites can ask to connect to USB devices"
- chrome://settings/content/hidDevices — "Sites can ask to connect to HID devices"
- chrome://settings/content/javascript — "Sites can use JavaScript"
In Microsoft Edge:
- edge://settings/privacy/sitePermissions/allPermissions/usbDevices — toggled on
- edge://settings/privacy/sitePermissions/allPermissions/javaScript — allowed
6. Check your browser policies. Administrators sometimes lock down browser features. In Chrome go to chrome://policy, or in Edge go to edge://policy, and look for any policy with WebUsb or WebHid in its name.
7. Check your security software. Third-party antivirus, anti-malware, or corporate EDR/DLP tools can block the connection. If you suspect this:
- Temporarily disable the security software to see if that resolves it.
- Check its logs for blocked activity involving Chrome, Edge, or the USB device.
- Add an exception or "allow" rule for the app or device.
