Preset Spillover vs. Trails Bypass: what's the difference?

People often use spillover, persistence, and trails interchangeably, but changing presets and bypassing are two genuinely different events. Here's how we define them: - Preset Spillover — the previous effect keeps decaying while the new one starts, so the two presets overlap during the transition. This generally needs a dual processor (or one with enough spare bandwidth) to run both effects at once. - Trails Bypass — the effect decays naturally when you bypass, instead of cutting off abruptly. Most of our reverbs support Trails Bypass, sometimes as an optional setting. At this time none of our products do true Preset Spillover — but ILLUMINE and Expanse can smoothly morph between effects (parameter morphing) under certain conditions.
