When there's no signal from the Direct Out, Line Out, or Sig Out, the natural assumption is that the output has failed — but that's rarely the case. Check these first:
- Check your cable. You hear it every time, we know — check anyway. Try a different, known-working cable.
- Confirm you're going into a mic input. Running into a PA or mixer? These outputs are mic-level — essentially a replacement for putting a mic in front of your amp. Plug into an instrument input instead and you'll get no signal.
- Adjust the mic trim. The Direct Out is a fairly low-level mic signal. On a console, turn the mic trim up enough to bring the signal up to an audible level.
If you're getting a signal but it sounds weak rather than absent, that's a different issue — it usually comes down to sending a mic-level Direct Out into a line input rather than a mic input.
Please troubleshoot thoroughly before sending an amp in — most units we receive for this work perfectly on arrival.
